Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Mounted Enforcement Team
The Mounted Enforcement Team was formed in the late 1980’s consisting of eight members. At that time the Mounted Teams main function was security. The team started out working East Lake Mall and University Mall during the holidays.
The Mounted Enforcement Team is a part-time specialty Team. The team currently consist of 6 law enforcement members, a team leader and an assistant team leader. Each member uses their own personal horse and incurs most expenses out of their own pocket. The Sheriff’s Office supplies riding equipment and miscellaneous items as needed.
We currently work University & Brandon Mall during the holidays but in addition to that we do special events such as: concerts, football games, neighborhood community days, school demonstrations, Law Enforcement Memorials, Gaspirilla Parade, Guavaween, Superbowls and crowd control as needed.
The team trains once a month at different locations. Our training generally consist of equitation, obstacles, sensory, defensive tactics, formation riding, crowd control maneuvers and horse care.
