Chief Deputy José M. Docobo
Chief Deputy José Docobo has served with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office since 1981, rising through the ranks from patrol deputy to his present position. Chief Deputy Docobo has previously worked as a Detective in Special Investigations and Internal Affairs. He worked as a Sergeant and Lieutenant in the Professional Standards Bureau. Chief Docobo served as Captain and then Major, of the Inspectional Services Division, and Colonel of the Enforcement Operations Department and the Executive Support Department.
Chief Deputy Docobo graduated with honors from the University of South Florida and holds a Master of Arts Degree from the United States Naval Postgraduate School in National Security Affairs. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy, the Senior Executive Fellows Program at Harvard University, and the Secret Service Dignitary Protection School.
Chief Deputy Docobo serves as a member of the State of Florida Regional Domestic Security Task Force, the Federal Joint Terrorism Task Force and on the Advisory Committee to the National Council on Readiness and Preparedness. He has published several articles addressing local law enforcement’s role in homeland security.
