    • Major Dennis Fogarty

      Major Dennis Fogarty is a veteran law enforcement officer who has served with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office since 1997. He moved to Hillsborough County in 1979 upon his father’s retirement from the Marine Corps. He graduated from the University of South Florida in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminology. He received his law enforcement certificate from Hillsborough Community College in 1997. Major Fogarty has been married 20 years and has two young children.

      Major Fogarty has held numerous positions within the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. He started his career at District II as a patrol deputy and moved onto the Street Crimes Unit and the Gang Unit. He was promoted to detective in the Criminal Investigations Division and served in Robbery, Auto Theft, Violent Crimes and then Intelligence-Led Policing within the Special Investigations Division. He was promoted to corporal and served as a field training supervisor then transferred to the Training Division. As a sergeant, he again supervised a field training squad and transferred to the Special Investigations Division in the Selective Operations Squad where he oversaw the Internet Predator Unit, Morals Unit and the Gang Unit. He was promoted to lieutenant and served as a night-shift commander, a district investigations commander and as the Deputy Division Commander of the Training Division. As a captain he served as the Deputy Division Commander of District II where he was promoted to the rank of Major.
