Major David Fleet
Major David Fleet has been with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office since 1987 and is a former commissioned officer of the United States Army. During his 30 year career with the Sheriff’s Office, he has worked himself up through the ranks and been assigned to a variety of challenging assignments including being the emergency management coordinator, Patrol Deputy, Field Training Officer Sergeant, Detective, Detective Corporal and Detective Sergeant within the Criminal Investigations Division as well as Lieutenant, Captain and Major within the Department of Patrol Services. Major Fleet spent 10 years as a member of the Special Weapons and Tactics Team, 6 ½ years as a negotiator with the Crisis Negotiations Team and 3 years as one of the founding members of the Special Incident Response Team.
Major Fleet is involved in numerous community endeavors including serving on the University Area Community Development Corporation board of directors and is a member of Kiwanis International, the Tampa Bay Area Chiefs of Police Association and military support organizations including the United States Military Endurance Sports team and Team Red White and Blue. Major Fleet also serves on the Homeland Security Investigations Video Quality in Public Safety planning and policy committee for the use of video in public safety operations.
Major Fleet is a graduate of the University of Tampa, the Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute’s Senior Leadership Program and the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy’s Florida Executive Development program.
