Wanted Suspect Captured In Taylor County
Awesome teamwork among several Law Enforcement Agencies leads to the arrest of wanted suspect.

Update – April 7, 2010
Detectives received information leading to the identity of the suspect wanted in connection with the brutal attack on the Red Roof Inn clerk that occurred on March 23, 2010. That information led them to Taylor County, Florida where, with the assistance of Perry Police Department, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, U.S. Marshals and Taylor County Sheriff’s Office authorities were able to locate Richard Omelia at his mother’s residence 6834 Walter Shiver Road in Perry, Florida. Omelia was taken into custody last night, April 6, 2010 without incident. He was booked into the Taylor County Jail on the below charges.

Armed Robbery with a deadly weapon

Night Clerk at Red Roof Inn
White male, early 20's, approximately 5'9", brown hair, wearing a brown leather jacket, blue jeans and sneakers. Armed with a knife.
At approximately 1:40 a.m., the armed suspect entered the Red Roof Inn, confronted the clerk and demanded money. A struggle ensued between the clerk and suspect resulting in the clerk being stabbed an undetermined number of times. It is believed that the suspect might have been injured, but at this time it is unknown. The suspect fled the scene on foot.
The clerk was transported by Fire Rescue to a local hospital where his is listed in stable condition.
Detectives have recovered items at the scene left by the suspect.
#1 Knife with 6 inch blade (looks like a kitchen knife).
#2 Right sneaker- size 8 - described as Black leather, Air Speed with white laces and white sole.
#3 Brown baseball cap - Initials " T M " embroidered on the front, "Scarface"
on the left side and a tag inside the cap "Scarface T M Universal Studios"
