    Details:

Based on information reference illegal activity being conducted at Staggs Nursery located 13824 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd and the address of 3127 Mott Road, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office detectives began an undercover investigation. During the course of the investigation detectives made contact with the Staggs brothers, and on several occasions Arthur Staggs purchased items from undercover detectives believing that the items had been stolen. On one occasion, the Walmart located in Valrico assisted detectives by providing a television. Detectives then sold the television to Arthur Stagg, who believed it to be stolen. Detectives also performed several drug transactions with Dennis Stagg while at the nursery.

At the conclusion of the investigation, detectives served a court authorized search warrant at the two locations and recovered items purchased by Stagg to include, a flat screen television, video gaming devices, video games, jewelry, camcorder and firearms. The search warrant also revealed over 50 gift cards from various stores such as Walmart, Home Depot and Lowe's. The gift cards were purchased by Arthur Staggs from individuals that would shoplift an item and then return the item to the store. When they could not produce a receipt for the item, the store would issue them a gift card. Staggs would purchase the gift cards for half the dollar value of the card.

Both Stagg brothers were taken into custody on December 19, 2010 and charged with the above charges. Arthur Staggs is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing a firearm.
