National Geographic Channel Features "Lockdown"

Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Detention Department Featured on National Geographic Channel “Lockdown”
Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Orient Road and Falkenburg Road jails were featured on National Geographic Channel “Lockdown” reality television show recently. The show depicts the daily duties and encounters of detention deputies.
National Geographic production staff spent two weeks at both jails in mid 2010 and captured footage for an hour long episode of the popular series. The program featuring HCSO is titled: “Lockdown: Officers Under Siege”.
The episode featured incidents ranging from day to day workings of a Direct Supervision pod with insight into the inmate’s routines. Also featured were some of the, what could be deadly inmate encounters such as a deputy that was attacked by several inmates resulting in other inmates coming to his rescue and one booking deputy almost loosing her fingers when an inmate kicked a door closed while the deputy’s fingers were in the door.
“The National Geographic production provides the public and viewers across the United States an accurate and true portrayal of the professionalism and character of the men and women of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. The show reinforces the reputation of our jails as one of the most respected detention systems in our country, while capturing a brief look at the challenges faced by our staff every day” stated Colonel Jim Previtera, commander of the Sheriff’s Department of Detention Services.
The program will air again on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. on the National Geographic Channel.
