On January 13, 2010 at approximately 8:30 a.m., two school buses (Shields Middle School) were in the area of Highway 301 and Ruth Morris Road when the bus driver of the first bus observed the suspect standing in the middle of the intersection. The bus driver stopped the bus in the roadway so as not to hit the suspect. The suspect then walked up to the side window stating that he wanted to get on the bus. The bus driver told him "no" at which time the suspect then grabbed the side mirror and climbed on top of the bus which was full of students. Once on top of the bus, the suspect then opened the top vent and entered the bus from the roof. The suspect then sat down in one of the seats and asked the driver to take him down the street. The bus driver had all the students exit the bus through the back door. The suspect then kicked the front door open and exited the bus.
The suspect then walked over to the second bus which was also full of students which was parked on Ruth Morris Road at Highway 301 and forced his way through the door of the bus. The bus driver demanded the suspect leave the bus. The suspect then walked off the bus, walked around to the front of the bus where he climbed on the hood and then climbed on the top. The suspect then jumped to the ground from the top of the bus, he then entered the bus through the back door and crawled through the bus on his hands and knees going out the front door. He then crawled on the roadway to the front of the bus where deputies took him into custody.
There was no damage to the buses and no students were harmed.
