Driver Of Hit & Run Fatal Turns Herself In To Authorities

The driver of the vehicle involved in a fatal pedestrian crash surrendered today on a warrant for leaving the scene of an crash involving death.
Amanda Jean Bentz, DOB 3/28/89, of 6909 Summerbridge Drive, Tampa, was jailed on $15,000 bond.
The fatal crash occurred on March 7, 2010 on Waters Avenue and Grady Avenue.
The victim was Billy L. Ivy, DOB 3/8/67.
The resulting investigation culminated in the issuance of a warrant for Bentz.

On Sunday, March 7, 2010 at approximately 9:30 p.m., Amanda Bentz was driving a 2008 Chevy eastbound on W. Waters Avenue just west of N. Grady Avenue when she struck Billy Leaden who was crossing Waters Avenue. The pedestrian died at the scene from injuries he received in the accident.
After striking the pedestrian Bentz left the scene but returned a short time later with her parents. Once back at the scene, she identified herself as the driver that struck the pedestrian. No charges have been filed at the release of this alert.
The investigation continues.
