White male, 39 years old
This morning at approximately 6:25 a.m., deputies responded to an intrusion alarm at the Rite RX Pharmacy located at 7520 Waters Avenue West. Deputies discovered a glass window to the business had been broken out, but appeared it was broken from the inside of the business. Deputy Chris Grecco and K-9 Bullit responded to the scene and “Bullit” located the suspect hiding in the ceiling. Upon his surrender to deputies they discovered that the suspect had suffered a large laceration to his wrist when he had attempted to exit the business by breaking out the window. Deputy Anthony Terentino utilized “Quik Clot” to stop the bleeding until Fire Rescue arrived on scene to transport the suspect to Tampa General Hospital.
It appears that the suspect had first attempted to gain entry to the pharmacy by prying the rear door of the business. When his attempts to pry the door were unsuccessful he then climbed up the side of the business and entered through a roof top vent. Once he entered through the vent, he discovered that he had entered the wrong business (Otero Insurance Group) which was located next door to the pharmacy. He climbed back up into the ceiling and then entered the pharmacy where he located Oxycodone and was attempting to leave the business when deputies arrived on scene.
Suspect is being treated at Tampa General Hospital.
