Sheriff David Gee is pleased to announce the selection of A. Michael Perotti as the newest major of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. Perotti will assume command of Jail Division III in the coming weeks. Currently, Perotti is an assistant legal counsel in the Sheriff’s Legal Section.
Perotti, 37, joined the Sheriff’s Office in 2001 after serving as a prosecutor with the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office. Perotti left the Sheriff’s Office in 2006 for private practice, and returned to the HCSO Legal Section in 2008. Perotti has extensive experience dealing with issues ranging from forfeiture, civil litigation, contracts, and risk management. Perotti also regularly trains and counsels detention and law enforcement deputies on use of force and legal issues.
“Michael will bring a fresh perspective to the Detention Department, and he will make an excellent addition to the leadership team of Colonel Jim Previtera,’’ Sheriff Gee said.
Perotti will command Jail Division III, which comprises the bureaus of Classification, Inmate Programs, Medical Services and Transportation, and Inmate Support Services.
“I am honored and humbled that the Sheriff has entrusted me with this opportunity,’’ said Perotti, a graduate of the University of Florida College of Law. “I have had the privilege of growing up in the Sheriff’s Office family and in the presence of individuals I believe to be great leaders.’’
Perotti said his management philosophies involve communication, respect, integrity and trust.
