Yesterday, March 18, 2010 at approximately 12:00 (noon) deputies responded to what appeared to be a home invasion at 1005 Hollyberry Court in Brandon. When deputies arrived at the residence, they heard what sounded like a struggle in the garage of the house. Two individuals (Joshua Barrington and Joshua Hinkle) exited the residence and told deputies that they had been robbed by two suspects. The suspects had fled out the rear of the residence as the victim’s exited out the front of the house.

Deputies in the area searched and located two suspects. Willie Staten was found hiding behind a shed at 1012 Sonya Lane. Deputies also recovered items from under the shed that were used in the home invasion; a 9 mm handgun, mask and personal property of Barrington and Hinkle. Trent Carrillo was discovered walking down Bell Shoals Road and was taken into custody.

Through the course of the investigation deputies learned that not only the two suspects (Staten and Carrillo) were involved, but that one of the victim’s (Hinkle) along with thirty five year old Michael Reaves were also involved in the conspiracy to rob Barrington .

Hinkle (Barrington’s friend) had arrived at his residence earlier in the day and was sending text messages to the other suspects to let them know that he had unlocked the front door of Barrington’s residence and that it was safe to arrive for the purpose of robbing Barrington of marijuana.

When the suspects arrived they proceeded with the robbery and to make it look real, they also robbed Hinkle and were in the process of attempting to tie up the victims when deputies arrived.

Michael Reaves was later identified as the individual that had transported the suspects to the residence and provided them with the 9 mm handgun that was used in the robbery. Reaves had a 2 year old female in the car at the time of the incident.
The 2 year old was turned over to her mother.

All the suspects admitted to conspiring to rip off the victim.

The victim, Joshua Barrington was also arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
