    Suspect Injures HCSO K-9 During Attempt To Elude Deputies

    Deputies arrest three suspects involved in an early morning vehicle burglary.

    On May 3, 2010 at approximately 2:34 a.m., deputies responded to the Courtney Trace Apartments in reference to a reported vehicle burglary. Deputies observed all three suspects flee from the scene upon their arrival. Suspects Crawford and Robinson were taken into custody.

    The third suspect, Ervin Wilson fled from the scene and was apprehended by Deputy Brian Davis and K-9 "Teton" hiding in chest high water in a swamp area just south of the Addison Apartments. While attempting to apprehend Wilson, the suspect grabbed the K-9's choke chain and attempted to strangle the dog and then he hit the K-9 in the head with his fist. During the struggle with the K-9, the K-9 ingested water.

    Deputy Brian Davis, a 16-year veteran was not injured. K-9 Teton was medically cleared by Florida Veterinary Specialists located in Brandon and did not suffer any permanent injuries.
