Leaving the Scene of a Traffic Crash with Death
On October 19, 2010, at approximately 9:30 p.m., HCSO Traffic Homicide Investigators arrested Shawn Lee Burton, DOB 11-14-80 in connection with the death of Ishizuka Kayoko.
During the investigation, detectives conducted extensive interviews and analyzed forensic evidence. As a result, enough information was developed to charge Burton with Leaving the Scene of a Traffic Crash with Death.
Apparently prior to the crash, the registered owner of the 1998 Ford Explorer loaned his car to Burton. During some point after the crash, the vehicle's owner observed damaged to the Explorer and questioned Burton about the damage.
Burton explained that he had struck a deer.
The owner of the Ford Explorer became suspicious after hearing media reports of the incident and notified detectives.

On Saturday, 25 September 2010, at 1:40 a.m., HCSO deputies were dispatched to Bruce B. Downs Blvd and University Square Dr. regarding a vehicle that struck and killed a bicyclist.
According to detectives, the bicyclist was southbound on Bruce B Downs in the bicycle lane when she was struck from behind by an unknown vehicle. After impact, the vehicle fled the scene south on Bruce B Downs.
The suspect vehicle has been described as possibly an older model dark red Ford Explorer with right front damage, missing pieces of the plastic lenses.
