Victim Dies After Being Struck By Train

A man was killed Saturday night, September 4, 2010 around 8:10 p.m. when he was struck by a CSX freight train near Kingsway Road and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
The train’s engineer told deputies that the train was traveling around 53 mph when he noticed something on the tracks. The engineer realized it was a person, and blew the train’s horn several times. The victim did not respond to the horn. The train struck the victim, who was lying across the tracks.
Detectives are investigating. Alcoholic beverages were located near the victim. It appears that the victim had passed out on the tracks.
