Sheriff David Gee will showcase the outstanding efforts of deputies and civilians of the Sheriff's Office as we present our 3rd Quarterly Awards Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at 2 p.m., Falkenburg Road Jail assembly room (520 N. Falkenburg Road).
Among the honorees:
Two citizens will be receiving Citizen Awards for saving the life of a 2 year old, who fell in a pool and sunk to the bottom of the pool and was given CPR by the citizens. The child recovered and will be present at the ceremony along with his mother.
Several deputies will be awarded the Life Saving Award as well as other deputies that will be awarded the Distinguished Performance Award one of which stems from an incident that occurred when a suspect attempted to pass a bad check at a local grocery store. The suspect also stole a female’s wallet from her shopping cart and when the victim chased the suspect into the parking lot, the victim was struck by the suspect vehicle. A responding detective arrived and attempted to stop the suspect vehicle, which resulted in the detective being injured.
At this ceremony there will be three squads awarded the Outstanding Squad Award: The School Resource Deputy Squad, The Latent Print Unit and the Special Incident Management Section.
The Awards Ceremony also provides the opportunity to recognize the Volunteer of the Year, Civilian Employee of the Quarter, Detention Deputy and Law Enforcement Deputy of the Quarter.
