Suspects Steal Jewelry From Trusting Victim
Detectives search for suspects who stole from trusting victim.
- September 1, 2010
- Time: 1:00 AM
#1 – White female, 5’5”, 120 lbs., Dark brown/black hair. Possibly 4 months pregnant. She has a slight accent, spoke English and Spanish. High cheek bones.
She used the name “Monica”.
#2 – White male, 22 – 29 years of age, 130 lbs. Jet black short straight hair and unusually white skin in contrast. Rough looking hands and he spoke only in Spanish while with the victim.
On September 1, 2010 at approximately 1:00 p.m., the two suspects engaged the victim in a Spanish conversation while she was shopping at the Goodwill store in Brandon. They then persuaded her to help them with a ride to somewhere in Brandon using a story about a lottery ticket and told her that she was entitled to share the profits but needed to prove that she had assets. They had her drive them to an unrelated address in Valrico and made her believe that the female suspect entered the residence to retrieve her own “proof of assets”, while the victim drove down the street and turned around. They then drove to the victim’s address where the suspect’s assisted her in locating her jewelry. They collected $25,450 worth of jewelry and then drove to the victim’s bank. The victim went inside to get a print out of her balances on her accounts, and when she returned the suspects had fled the scene.
Anyone with any information reference the suspects are asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at 247-8200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-8477.
