    Suspect In 2008 Homicide Arrested In Tennessee

    Hamblen County Sheriff's Office Detectives and the U.S. Marshals apprehend fugitive from Hillsborough County.

    Update April 15, 2011 - Third suspect in 2008 homicide arrested in Tennessee.

    Suspect:
    Gregorio Chino-Ronquillo, DOB 1-2-82
    Glassglow, KY

    On April 14, 2011, Detective Sergeants Frank Lane and David Stapleton of Hamblen County Sheriff’s Department in Morristown Tennessee assisted the U.S. Marshal’s in apprehending fugitive, Gregorio Chino-Ronquillo wanted for First Degree Murder in a 2008 case out of Hillsborough County. The suspect was working in the Lowland Community. Law enforcement had developed information that the suspect was in the area and conducted a controlled traffic stop off of Highway 160 in Morristown Tennessee where he was taken into custody without incident. Chino-Ronquillo fled Florida after the murder and warrants were issued. He will be transported back to Hillsborough County.

    Details:

    This morning at approximately 12:09 a.m. the defendants Richard McCormick and Homero Mendiola along with a third unknown Hispanic male armed themselves with two firearms and a metal pole/stick and approached the victim's Luis Serpa-Morales, Guillermo Serpa-Morales and Juan Cortez-Garcia who were standing in front of their residence at 7030 Nundy Avenue in Gibsonton. The suspects battered the victim's with the pipe and firearm prior to demanding money. Cortez-Garcia fled into the residence and was followed by defendant Mendiola. The defendants then followed victim's Luis and Guillermo Serpa-Morales next door to 7028 Nundy Avenue where they forcibly entered the residence. Once inside the defendants demanded money from the occupants and battered Guadalupe Govea with a pipe or firearm. Also within the residence, defendant McCormick and the unknown Hispanic male discharged their weapons multiple times wounding victim, Salvador Mateo Victorano and Guillermo Serpa-Morales. Guillermo Serpa-Morales died at the scene. Victorano was transported to Tampa General Hospital (non life threatening).

    Both suspects were identified and arrested (see above charges).

    Only description on third suspect is that of a Hispanic male.
