    Charge: Armed Robbery

    Detective:

    Detective Charles Boswell, 41
    19 year veteran
    Assigned to Criminal Investigations Division

    Details:

On April 25,  2011 at approximately 12:40 p.m. a suspect entered the Grow Financial Credit Union located at 604 Bloomingdale Avenue East where he passed a demand note to the teller and implied that he had a weapon. As the suspect exited the bank the dye pack exploded and the suspect fled the scene in a 4 door Lexus. A short time later the Sheriff’s Office received a call reference a reckless driver on Highway 60. The caller was able to provide a tag number and vehicle description. That description enabled detectives to discover the registered owner and address which led detectives to the suspect’s residence at 4719 Bloomingdale Avenue. When detectives arrived they discovered money that was consistent with money from the robbery in the garage area. Further investigation by detectives revealed the identity of the suspect to be Thomas Noettl, DOB 1-5-81. An arrest warrant was secured and Noettl was located at the Hard Rock Casino where he was arrested. A search warrant was secured for the residence at 4719 Bloomingdale avenue and after an interview with the suspect who was cooperative; detectives proceeded to the residence where the suspect told them he had portions of the money from the bank. The suspect was cooperative and as they entered the residence through the garage area, the suspect armed himself with a knife from the kitchen area. The suspect was ordered several times to drop the weapon and when he failed to do so, the detective fired several shots striking the suspect. The suspect was then transported to Tampa General Hospital where he remains in critical condition. The suspect has been remote booked at the hospital charged with Armed Robbery.

Detective Charles Boswell has been placed on administrative leave with pay pending review of the investigation.
