    Details:

On August 05, 2011 at 10:03 p.m., HCSO received a 911 call from Oscar Dean at 12732 Charles B Way Apt B in Thonotosassa, who indicated he had accidently shot his wife.

When deputies arrived, they located Robin Martin suffering with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. Martin was transported to Tampa General Hospital where she is currently in stable condition

According to deputies, Oscar Dean was inside his residence when he was mishandling a .357 revolver he believed was unloaded. During this time, one round discharged and struck his wife Robin Martin in the abdomen. Oscar Dean put the firearm down and waited for deputies and medical personnel to arrive.

During the investigation, deputies observed the living quarters of the residence to be in conditions unfit for a 6 year old child. The residence was heavily infested with insects and there was very little food.

An investigator with Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Child Protective Investigation Division responded to the scene and took custody of a 6 year old child. Oscar Dean was arrested on one count of Child Neglect. Robin Martin may face similar charges once she is released from the hospital.

Regarding the shooting incident, preliminary information is it appears to be accidental however once the investigation is complete the case will be turned over to the Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office to review if any culpable negligence charges are applicable.
