8 counts of Attempted Murder of a Law Enforcement Officer
Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputies have charged Robert Fiske with eight counts of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer. Deputies responded to the suspects residence at 14:32 p.m. on February 5, 2011 in reference to a person making suicidal threats (Fiske). When deputies arrived Fiske was inside his residence alone and refused to come out. SWAT and Negotiators responded to the scene in an attempt to talk Fiske out of his residence. Fiske armed himself with a handgun, racked the slide and told deputies that he would shoot them if they entered his home. During extensive negotiations, eight deputies in a tactical vehicle approached the home to deliver a telephone to the defendant, at which time, the defendant fired at least two rounds at the deputies. The defendant admitted to negotiators that he intended to shoot the deputies in the tactical vehicle. The negotiations lasted for nine hours until Fiske was talked out. No one was injured and Fiske was transported to the Orient Road Jail and booked on the above charges.
