Father Charged With Attempted Murder On Child
For unknown reasons, father stabs child over 20 times.

The victim was visiting relatives at 11726 58th Street #9, for a New Years Eve Celebration. The suspect, Xavier Thomas, who is the victim's father, was also at the party. The family was in the parking lot lighting fireworks and then all went inside when finished. At that time, the suspect took his son (victim) to a park/playground in the apartment complex. About twenty minutes later, family members noticed the child was not around and started looking for him. About that time, the father came back to the apartment without the child and, when questioned about the whereabouts of his son, he fled on foot without responding. A family member contacted the Sheriff's Office reference the missing juvenile. Just as deputies were arriving on scene, the child, covered with blood, appeared from the park/playground area. The child was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital. The victim suffered over twenty stab wounds (no specific number at this time) to the back, chest, neck and arm. None of the wounds are life threatening and he is listed in stable condition. The suspect was located walking on 50th street near I-4 and was taken into custody and charged with the attempted murder of his son. The suspect gave no motive. The child’s mother was not at the party.
