    On January 23, 2011, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s patrol deputies responded to a complaint at 1706 Kingsway Road in Seffner regarding an in progress cockfighting violation. Upon the deputies arrival numerous subjects fled the scene. The deputies discovered a large scale cockfight event was set up in a horse barn situated on the property. Deputies apprehended 6 subjects at the scene. Detectives executed a court authorized search warrant for evidence. An arena was set up in the middle of the barn and in 12 horse stalls were multiple roosters in crates, boxes and running loose with spurs on their legs. Detectives recovered 97 live roosters and found 9 dead ones. Numerous items of cockfighting paraphernalia were also seized from the location. Approximately 40 vehicles were left at the location by subjects who were believed to be attending the illegal event and fled on foot when deputies arrived. The property owner had the vehicles towed. The investigation continues.
