    Illegal Dumping Case Yields Marijuana Bust

    On June 7, 2011, Hillsborough County Environmental Enforcement Unit deputies responded to 8733 South Meadowview Circle in Tampa in reference to an illegal dumping case. On May 19. 2011, Environmental Enforcement Unit deputies began working an illegal dumping case at 17916 Brown Road in Odessa where miscellaneous materials were illegally dumped on private property. Deputies went through the materials and discovered a name and address of an individual at the Meadowview address. On June 7, 2011 when deputies arrived at the address they came in contact with 5 individuals. The deputies were invited inside the residence by the suspects and once inside deputies discovered that the residence contained marijuana. While deputies were talking to the individuals, one of the suspects ran from the residence was apprehended a short distance away by one of the K-9.

    The suspects were taken into custody and transported to the Orient Road Jail. A search warrant was conducted at the residence which yielded approximately 160 pounds of marijuana, an air conditioning handler which was reported stolen to Lakeland Police Department and a stove which was reported stolen to Polk County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation continues.
