On October 11, 2011 at approximately 8:30 p.m. deputies responded to a 911 call at 9203 113th Avenue in Thonotosassa where the caller indicated that someone had been shot at the residence. When deputies arrived they found one adult male (Stuart Stephens) suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was transported to Tampa General Hospital where he is listed in stable condition. The suspect, Lennox Lowery had fled the scene after the shooting. The victim and the suspect have known each other for approximately 5 years. The motive for the shooting is unknown at this time. Alerts were placed for the suspect, Lennox Lowery and the suspect vehicle was located by Tampa Police Department at 7508 Huntley Avenue in Tampa.
Several deputies responded to the Huntley address and the suspect was located in the yard hiding under a blue tarp. A K-9 deputy ordered the suspect to come out from under the tarp at which time the suspect crawled out and was armed with a handgun. The suspect was given several verbal commands to drop the firearm which he ignored. The suspect then turned toward Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Corporal Anthony Miller who was dressed in full Sheriff’s Office uniform, placing Corporal Miller in fear for his life. Corporal Miller and Deputy Matthew Laslo both discharged their weapons. Lennox Lowery was transported to Tampa General Hospital where he is listed in stable condition. Lowery was remote booked last night at the hospital.
