At approximately 3:10 p.m. deputies responded to the Chase Bank located at 7902 Gunn Highway after a caller stated that there was what appeared to be a drunk driver in the drive thru at the bank. The caller provided the description of the vehicle (2010 White SUV Range Rover). When deputies arrived the vehicle had already left the bank. Deputies searched for the vehicle and located it at the Shell Station located at Gunn and Ehrlich road. When a deputy approached the vehicle and identified himself to the driver, the suspect began backing up at which time the deputy attempted to block the vehicle in with his patrol vehicle. The suspect then drove his vehicle towards the deputy in an attempt to strike the deputy's vehicle. The deputy was able to take evasive action and was not struck. The vehicle fled and the pursuit was initiated. At this point the charge was one count of aggravated assault on a LEO. The suspect fled southbound on Gunn Highway and due to his erratic driving Hillsborough aviation was called to spot the vehicle. In the area of Sheldon road, the suspect attempted to ram another deputy's vehicle (unsuccessful) at this time patrol backed off, letting aviation call the direction of travel on the Veterans. The suspect continued downtown where he was driving the wrong way on one way streets. The suspect continued on to the area of U.S. 41 south of Riverview Drive where deputies deployed stop sticks. The suspect ran over the stop sticks and continued on rims south bound on Big Bend Road where a deputy utilized a pit maneuver with his patrol vehicle and the suspect was taken into custody. There were no injuries to anyone. When deputies arrested the suspect, there was cocaine in the vehicle in plain view.
