    • Dealing in Stolen Property

On August 22, 2011 at approximately 6:34 a.m. several subjects removed a sliding chain link fence gate from the front of 5511 24th Avenue South that surrounded the business called Industrial & Marine Maintenance. Once inside, the subjects used bolt cutters to remove padlocks that secured several storage containers in the yard. The subjects then removed over $20,000 worth of brass impellers, spider wheels, covers and steel shafts that are used in the Port of Tampa. On August 22, 2011 at approximately 3:11 p.m. the defendants Matthew Davis and his friend (co defendant) Louis Cappello scrapped over 500 pounds of impellers, spider wheels, and covers at IMRC, a scrap metal recycler located at 4131 Causeway Blvd in Tampa. The defendant and co-defendant received $848.00 for the stolen property. The defendant was identified in the video (IMRC) dumping the stolen property onto the scale. **Video will not be released as it is considered evidence. Additionally, the Cappello and his girlfriend, Marissa Reagan used the same vehicle to scrap an additional 700 pounds of stolen brass in Polk County on August 24, 2011. Surveillance video was also taken into evidence from the incident in Polk County.

On August 31, 2011, the defendants (Cappello, Davis and Hondrellis) entered the fenced and closed business Padgett Swann at 5103 36th Avenue South East. The defendants worked together to remove brass boat propellers valued in excess of $100,000. The defendants loaded the stolen items into a U-Haul truck rented by Hondrellis. The defendants unloaded the truck at a co-defendants residence. All of the property from the Padgett Swann burglary has been recovered.

Detectives developed information that enabled them to identify the suspects and all four were taken into custody.

At the time of his arrest, Matthew Davis was driving a Ford Taurus and his license has been suspended and placed as a habitual traffic violator as of April 6, 2009.
