Details:
On April 19, 2012, at approximately 7:30 p.m., The District III Street Crimes Unit obtained information on an individual who was selling names with social security numbers, dates of birth to individuals for purposes of tax fraud. Contact was made at the intersection of Woodland Corporate Boulevard and Waters Avenue West. The suspect sold the undercover deputy three pages, thirty-three names for an undetermined amount of money. The suspect, Joseph Burden was arrested.
Upon searching Burden’s book bag, an additional eighteen pages with names, social security numbers and dates of birth were located inside a newspaper. A total of 221 names were discovered. Post Miranda, the arrestee admitted to obtaining the names from his place of employment, Provest.
