Calls for Service During Republican National Convention:
Due to the Republican National Convention, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office will be modifying how they handle certain calls for service. This was created in an attempt to ease the pressures on Sheriff’s Office personnel and provide the best coverage for the citizens of unincorporated Hillsborough County. The modification will in no way change the level of professionalism exuded by Sheriff’s Office personnel.
The changes will be implemented on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 6:00 a.m. and will cease on Friday, August 31, 2012 at 6:00 a.m.
Some of the other calls that deputies would normally respond to, the caller will be directed to either make the report over the phone or will be directed to respond to the nearest Sheriff’s District Office to make the report in person.
All traffic crashes that occur on the Interstates will be handled by Florida Highway Patrol. Traffic crashes with no injuries and where the vehicles are still operable (Non Interstate crashes); those involved parties will be directed by dispatchers to report to the nearest District Office or retrieve a Driver’s Exchange Form from any passing Deputy.
