On December 14, 2012, at 1:10 a.m., Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to 4110 Silver Lane in Valrico after a Krystal Register said her boyfriend hit her and forced her from their residence during a verbal argument.
Two deputies arrived on scene, and made contact with Allen Harmeyer at the front doorway of his home. Harmeyer made several verbal threats towards the deputies and went back inside his residence.
Several minutes later, Harmeyer came back outside armed with an AK-47 style assault rife and fired multiple rounds towards the deputies. Harmeyer fired a full 30 round magazine of 7.62x39 caliber rounds at responding deputies. One deputy returned fire sending Harmeyer running back inside his home. A short time later, Harmeyer came out of his residence and surrendered.
There were no injuries to Harmeyer or to any deputies. Two marked patrol vehicle sustained approximately five thousand dollars in damage from Harmeyer's gunfire.
Krystal Register received minor bumps and bruises during the initial assault between her and Harmeyer. She was treated and released at the scene.
There was no one else inside the residence during the exchange of gunfire.
Approximately 1000 rounds of ammo and several other firearms were seized.
