Capitol Sexual Battery
Sexual Battery by Familial Custodial
Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested Gustavo Ruiz on two counts of sexual battery. The allegations against Ruiz are that he had sexually molested the same female child over an eight year period. Ruiz is alleged to have produced, possessed and transmitted child pornography. The investigation began after the child confided to mother what had occurred. On December 28, 2012 at approximately 6:50 a.m. detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division served a court authorized search warrant on a residence on Holly Tree Lane in Brandon, Ruiz’s residence. As detectives arrived to secure and search the residence, it was discovered that Ruiz was not at the residence at the time. Ruiz was located by detectives as he was traveling southbound on John Moore returning to the residence. Ruiz was taken into custody on the above charges. During the search of the residence, detectives seized all of Ruiz’s electronic devices; computer, cell phones, lap tops, USB cards and cameras. The investigation continues. A forensic search will be conducted on the seized electronic equipment.
