Suspects flee the scene leaving behind several hundred gallons of gasoline.
On February 21, 2012, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office responded to the BP Gas Station at 8606 Citrus Park Drive for an attempted gas theft that resulted in the spillage of approximately 25 gallons of gasoline in the parking lot.
At approximately 1:10 a.m., unknown suspects parked a van over the in-ground fuel tanks and began siphoning gas from the tanks into the van; during this time and for unknown reason the suspects fled the scene leaving behind the van along with several hundred gallons of gas still inside the van.
Hillsborough County Fire Haz-Mat along with HCSO Bomb Team responded to the scene to assist in examining the van for any hazardous devises and assist in the clean up.
Anyone with any information reference the suspect(s) is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at 247-8200 or anyone with any information regarding the identity and whereabouts of this suspect(s) and who wants to be eligible for a cash reward is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS (8477), report anonymously online at www.crimestopperstb.com or text "CSTB plus your tip" to C-R-I-M-E-S (274637).
