On June 18, 2012, at approximately 1:15 a.m., Solano-Sanchez called 911 from the Lakeshore Club Apartments at 3411 Carlton Arms Drive to report that a man with a gun robbed her of her 2011 Dodge magnum and purse.
Solano-Sanchez reported the suspect walked up to her while she was entering into her car and asked her for a cigarette. When the victim told him she does not smoke, the suspect pulled a handgun and demanded her purse and keys. The suspect also ordered the victim into the car but she refused. The suspect took her car keys and purse and drove away in her car.
A county wide alert was placed with a full description of the vehicle and suspect's information. At approximately 5 a.m., patrol deputies spotted the stolen vehicle in the area of Lloyd Street and Old E. Hillsborough.
Patrol units began following the armed suspect traveling in the stolen vehicle until additional backup units could arrive and safely conduct a felony vehicle stop. The suspect vehicle pulled down Valencia Drive which is a dead end road.
Units set up a road block at the open end of the street to block the vehicle from fleeing. The suspect vehicle turned around and rammed two patrol cars as it attempted to flee the area, causing damage to the patrol cars but no injuries to the deputies.
The vehicle then stopped and the driver bailed from the vehicle and fled on foot. The passenger was detained at the scene. K9 Deputies tracked the suspect to 11615 Grove Lane in Seffner. SWAT was called out after the suspect refused to exit the residence.
Hostage Negotiators began calling into the house and convinced two subjects to voluntarily come out on their own. The third subject Marvin Davy refused to exit the house. SWAT members deployed a flash/percussion device and entered into the residence. SWAT began search the residence and found Davy hiding in the attic. Davy was taken into custody without injuries.
Following interviews with detectives, suspect Jerry Reid confessed to robbing the victim and stealing her car. Reid also admitted to ramming the deputies’ vehicles in an attempt to escape.
The investigation continues.
