Between April 26, 2012 and May 9, 2012, the suspect Jose Rios-Ventura with the aid of employees of Hearne Produce (Rigoberto Lozana and Gerald Miller) stole approximately $20,000 in produce from Hearne Produce at 707 West Lake Drive in Wimauma. Detectives began the investigation when the owners of Hearne Produce contacted some of their customers to ask why they had stopped ordering from their company.

The investigation revealed that Rios-Ventura made arrangements with the warehouse supervisor, Gerald Miller to pickup pallets of produce from Hearne’s produce warehouse. It was determined that Gerald Miller and Rigoberto Lozano (warehouse manager/loader) manipulated the inventory and shorted their employer (Hearne Produce) several pallets of produce a day. As produce inventory arrived, Miller would not account for the full shipment. Lozano would load the stolen produce into Rios-Ventura’s trailer. Rios-Ventura would then sell the produce for cash. Miller would later meet Rios-Ventura and collect a portion of the money from the sale and share that money with Lozano.
