8136 Honeywell Road, Lot 34
On May 21, 2012 at approximately 2:55 p.m. Zertuche was brought into the Orient Road Jail after being taken into custody by Plant City Police Department on a Petit Theft charge. When Zertuche arrived at the jail and was in the booking process a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Detention Deputy recognized Zertuche from the Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay web site as being wanted for Attempted Murder charges. Zertuche had provided Plant City Police Department another name when he was arrested.
Zertuche was wanted in Hillsborough County in connection with an incident that occurred on June 1, 2009. On June 1, 2009 at approximately 3 a.m. the codefendant smashed out the windows of a Mitsubishi Montero and punched the side of the vehicle causing approximately $3,000 in damage. The vehicle was parked at 8536 Honeywell Road in Gibsonton. After the co-defendant smashed the window out of the vehicle, the codefendant was confronted at the residence Lot 34 by the victim. The co-defendant started fighting with the victim during the altercation, the codefendant started to batter the victim with his fists and yelled to the defendant to get his 45. During the altercation with, defendant started fighting the victim and pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the victim’s head. The victim attempted to move out of the way. The defendant shot the victim in the rear torso of the body. The witness positively identified the defendant as the person who shot the victim. The defendant is personally known victim and the victim identified the defendant by his nickname "Chickee" as the person who shot him. The witness identified the defendant by this nickname "Chickee" and by his given name Arturo Zertuche. The witness has known the defendant for 4 years and identified him via a booking photograph. The victim was transported to TGH to be treated for a gunshot wound.
Two other suspects were arrested in June of 2009 in connection with this incident. Warrants had been issued for Arturo Zertuche and his photo was posted on the Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay website: www.crimestopperstb.com
