On November 17, 2012, at approximately 7:22 a.m. a female was jogging in the area of Ridgebrook Circle and Royal Cove Circle when she was confronted by three pit bulls. The jogger was standing in the roadway surrounded by the dogs when a male (Steven Lamb) exited his residence, armed with a handgun. Lamb confronted the pit bulls. The dogs took off running and Lamb pursued them on foot. According to the jogger, she then heard shots fired and saw the dogs run from between two houses. Two of the pit bulls had been shot. A ten month old female was shot in the face and hip area, the ten month old male was shot in the left side. A 2 year old pit bull was not injured. Both injured dogs were taken to the vet, where the female had to be put down.
Deputies also discovered that a residence across the pond from where the shooting took place had a rear sliding glass door shot out and the bullet went into a kitchen wall. There were four occupants in the residence, and no one was injured.
The investigation continues and deputies will be consulting with the State Attorney's Office.
