On November, 11, 2012, in the early morning hours, the victim Robert Gary was contacted via telephone by his friend and former roommate, Nicole Marie Thomas to come to her residence in order to pick up his personal belongings.
Between 9:00 and 9:20 a.m. Gary arrived at the residence and entered. Upon entering the residence Gary observed Thomas and two unknown males wearing ski masks. Gary was then attacked by the two unknown males who began striking him about his body with their hands and feet. Gary, while being struck by the suspects, asked Thomas to make them stop, and heard her reply, “ ----- you, you owe me money”. The victim then heard a male voice yell out, “Get the knife, get the knife, finish him off!”. Gary was then stabbed in the leg with an unknown sharp instrument. Gary’s pant pockets were gone through by the suspects and his property ( a cellular telephone, an identification card and approximately $600 in U.S currency) was removed. During the attack Gary was also bitten numerous times about his body by a canine that is owned/cared for by Thomas. Gary fled the residence on foot in fear that the suspects were going to kill him. Gary was observed by neighbors stumbling from the area of the residence until such time that he collapsed into a nearby open field. The witness, observed Thomas and her two children, within their doorway, watch the victim walking away from the residence. Neighbors went to Garys aide and observed several facial injuries. Gary was transported to St. Joseph Hospital where he was found to have sustained fractures, lacerations and a puncture wound on his left upper thigh along with bite wounds.
Deputies responded to Thomas’ address, but all the occupants had fled prior to deputies arrival.
On November 12, 2012, deputies were able to interview the victim and the victim was able to positively identify one of the male suspects as an ex-boyfriend of Thomas. The suspect was identified as “Frank” Francisco Cepeda, DOB 12-30-91. A warrant has been issued for Cepeda for Attempted Murder and Armed Robbery.
