On November 27, 2012, Santa Claus, along with Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputies, Tampa Police officers, Temple Terrace Police & Fire Rescue, Florida Highway Patrol, Tampa Fire Rescue, and Hillsborough County Fire Rescue personnel, will visit dozens of children at Robles Elementary - bringing gifts and holiday cheer. It's all part of "Sincerely Santa" - a program which has provided toys and clothing to more than 100,000 underprivileged children since 1987.
Students in grades kindergarten through 3rd have been waiting to hear back from Santa, since writing him letters about their wish lists. Teachers and social workers identified the students who need gifts the most and "Sincerely Santa" processes those requests. Sponsors from the community, including corporate partners and civic organizations, purchase gifts for the kids, which are delivered to each child's home.
The kickoff will begin at Living Faith Church, where a caravan of law enforcement and fire rescue personnel will head over to Robles Elementary. There, students will be waiting for Santa's arrival. Santa is expected to read to the children and hand out gifts.
