Detectives are asking for the public's assistance in locating a missing woman.

Description: black female, 5’1, 173 lbs., medium build, black shoulder length hair, brown eyes, wearing black t-shirt, black spandex pants and black and gold sandals.
- 2000 Black Nissan Maxima, four door with Florida tag # A 4 9 6 R E
- (Vehicle has been recovered on Taylor Road and Pruett Road)
Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing adult, Gwendolyn Belcher. On September 16, 2012 a family member of Belcher reported her missing from her residence. When deputies arrived to take the report, they interviewed family members as well as Belcher’s husband (Christopher Belcher). During the course of the interview deputies learned that Christopher Belcher had returned home on the night of September 15, 2012 after attending a birthday party. Once at home, he then got into a verbal confrontation with his wife (Gwendolyn Belcher). The verbal confrontation turned physical when the defendant, Christopher Belcher struck the victim with an open hand to her face. Deputies took Christopher Belcher into custody charging him with Domestic Violence.
On September 16, 2012 at approximately 6:30 p.m. deputies responded to Taylor Road and Pruett Road in reference to a burnt vehicle that had been found. When deputies began investigating they found skeletal remains inside the vehicle.
September 17, 2012, detectives have been able to determine that the burnt vehicle is the 2000 Nissan Maxima that belongs to missing adult Gwendolyn Belcher.
The skeletal remains that were inside the vehicle have been turned over to the Medical Examiner’s Office. At this time, it is undetermined if the skeletal remains are that of a male or female due to the extensive damage done by the fire.
