    Details:

On April 11, 2013 at approximately 12:48 pm, HCSO deputies were approached by a citizen stating that there was a dog in the dumpster of the Avesta Apartments, 1403 E. 127th Ave. in Tampa. When deputies approached the dumpster they could see a small, brown dog at the bottom that was covered with trash, but still breathing. Animal Services was called to the scene and removed the dog that was dehydrated and already covered with maggots. As they were evaluating the dog, a chow type mix breed named Bear, another citizen approached. The woman stated that she had seen a man walking the dog on April 10th at approximately 9:30 pm and that the dog appeared to be in good health. At 11:00 pm, she saw the same white male throw a black trash bag into the dumpster with something furry hanging out of it. As deputies were speaking to the witness, John Michael Tickle came outside and spontaneously stated that he had thrown the dog into the dumpster because it was dead. Tickle was arrested at the scene and is being charged with a felony count of Cruelty to Animals. The dog was removed from the scene by Animal Services and was euthanized due to the dog's poor physical state.

Upon further investigation, deputies determined that the owner of the dog, Rebecca McIntosh, had left the dog in the suspects care on April 10, 2013.
