    Details:

The following individual has been arrested in the Hit and Run Fatality which occurred on U.S. 92 at the I-4 overpass.

His vehicle, a 1999 Ford Ranger pickup truck was found behind the Ben's Restaurant at 704 Brandon Boulevard East after an anonymous tip was received by Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office communications. Detectives investigated the vehicle, matching a paint chip found at the scene with section of paint from the hood of the vehicle. Kimmel works at Ben's, and came to the restaurant at approximately 9:00 a.m. on 8/6/2013 to see his brother, who also works at this location. His brother took Christopher Kimmel to Brandon Hospital for treatment of a laceration to his head.

The victim was riding his bicycle eastbound on the right shoulder of U.S. 92 overpass crossing over the off ramp for Interstate 4 eastbound. The victim was struck by the Ranger pickup which was also traveling east on the overpass. The suspect vehicle struck the victim and the victim was ejected from the bicycle, over the guardrail to the south, and came to rest in the retention area below (approximately 80 feet below the overpass). The suspect vehicle did not stop.

Two witnesses, who were traveling east on the off-ramp saw the victim’s backpack and body fall from above, but did not see the suspect vehicle.
