On November 29, 2013 at approximately 4:40 a.m. the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from Town and Country Hospital located at 6001 Webb Road in Tampa. Hospital authorities reported that a black male identified as Marlin Walker, DOB 3-5-93 was brought into the hospital emergency room for a single gunshot wound to the upper right chest area. Walker died as a result of the gun shot wound. The victim was transported to Town and Country Hospital by the defendant, Erika Sanez.
The investigation revealed that Erika Sanez and Travis Weller had met approximately one month ago and Erika Sanez contacted Weller and made arrangements to meet with him for a date. Sanez met with Weller at another location and took him to the Plum Grove Court address (vacant residence) where she had three males waiting to rob Weller. When the males (Walker and unidentified males) attempted to rob Weller, he fired shots striking Walker in the chest. Erika Sanez drove Walker to the hospital. Weller called 911
stating that "individuals had tried to rob him and he shot a suspect". Weller remained at the scene until deputies arrived.
A post Miranda interview was conducted with Erika Sanez, and she admitted that she, the victim Marlin Walker and two other individuals lured Travis Weller to the abandoned house located at 8903 Plum Grove Court in an attempt to rob him.
Erika Sanez admitted to the offense, and she was positively identified by Travis Weller as the person who lured him to the abandoned residence.
The investigation continues as to identifying the other two suspects.
