Hillsborough County Sheriff's Operation Center Renamed In Honor Of Sheriff Malcolm Beard (Retired):
On December 4, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Hillsborough County Sheriff's Operation Center building was renamed in honor of Sheriff Malcolm Beard (Retired).

The ceremony included the presentation of the flags, the Bloomingdale High School Chamber Orchestra playing our National Anthem followed by opening remarks by former Florida State Senator John Grant.
Sheriff Malcolm Beard's Background:
Malcolm E. Beard, was born in Moultrie, Georgia, and began his long and distinguished career of public service with the Tampa Police Department in the 1940's. Elected as constable for Hillsborough County in 1957, Malcolm had a profound understanding of what it takes to serve and protect. Furthering his passion for law enforcement, he ran for and was elected sheriff in 1964 and served for more than 14 years.
In 1978, he was elected to the Florida House, and later elected to the Florida Senate, where he retired, in 1996. Although now retired, Malcolm has remained busy, spending time with his wife Mary Ellen, one son and his grandchildren. These days you may also find him fishing or hunting at the Tuten Hunt Club, which he has been a member of for the past 40 years.
