During the early evening of December 11, 2013, HCSO was contacted by a female who indicated she looked outside the window of her home and saw her ex-boyfriend Jerrod Dantzler hiding in the back seat of her vehicle. She called 9-1-1 out of fear for her safety because according to her, Dantzler committed acts of violence against her the recent past.
Deputy J.J. Marcano with Patrol District 4, quickly arrived on scene and found Dantzler hiding behind the house. Deputy Marcano ordered Dantzler to show him his hands after he saw Dantzler reaching towards his waistband. Dantzler complied with the order and in the process, a fully loaded Taurus 9mm with 17 live rounds fell to the ground from Dantzler's waistband. Further examination
of the gun revealed the serial number had been ground off. Dantzler was arrested without further incident and booked into the Orient Road Jail.
Dantzler was recently released from jail on September 10, 2013 for Domestic Battery by Strangulation and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
