Awarded Crime Stoppers Coordinator Of The Year:
Deputy Lisa Haber
Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay
During the February quarterly meeting of the Florida Association of Crime Stoppers the first awards luncheon was held at the Plantation Hotel in Citrus County. Among the award recipients was Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Deputy Lisa Haber, recognized as Crime Stoppers Coordinator of the Year.
Deputy Haber has been with the Sheriff’s Office for 24 years. She took over the position as coordinator in 1996 and has successfully brought the program to new levels. While handling the day to day functions of the Crime Stoppers program she has also developed numerous ways of getting the Crime Stoppers message and the tip line number out in the community thus helping solve crimes. She is responsible for getting billboards, advertising on Hartline buses and bus benches.
As a law enforcement coordinator she is very dedicated to helping law enforcement in efforts to solve crimes and has built great working relationships with the local law enforcement agencies. Several years ago, realizing how effective the Crime Stoppers program is, Lisa lobbied for the Student program in all Middle and High Schools in Hillsborough and Pasco counties as well as the City of Tampa.
Lisa is a member of the Florida Association of Crime Stoppers and as such has served in several capacities such as secretary, mentoring committee, communications and legislative committee and serves as a trainer at the quarterly meetings. She works closely with the Attorney General’s Office on Crime Stoppers Trust Fund issues and is often called upon to mentor new program coordinators throughout the state.
