On July 17, 2013 at approximately 9:30 p.m. the clerk from the Seffner Food Store located at 340 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. was sitting outside of the store in his vehicle due to the store electricity being out because of the storm.. While he was outside a white male approached him and robbed him of his personal property to include his wallet and the store keys. The suspect then fled.
The suspect immediately left and used the victim’s credit card to make three separate purchases.
At approximately 10:30 p.m. the owner of the Seffner Food Store changed the locks and used a chain to secure the doors.
At approximately 3:40 a.m. on July 18, 2013 the Seffner Food Store located at 340 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. was burglarized when a vehicle drove into the front of the store. The vehicle was described as a large silver or grey vehicle. The suspect, described as a white or Hispanic male then removed cigarettes before fleeing the area.
A deputy in the area of Kingsway and Highway 92 spotted a vehicle matching the description. The deputy followed the vehicle and after a short pursuit, the vehicle went through a fence, struck a palm tree, an oak tree and came to rest striking the corner of a house at 1212 Varnes Alley in Seffner. The suspect bailed from the vehicle and fled on foot but was located a short distance away by K-9.
The suspect was transported to Tampa General Hospital where he was treated for injuries sustained in the crash and then released. The suspect was then booked into the jail charged with Fleeing and Eluding and Armed Robbery of the clerk.
The investigation continues.
