Carmen Denise Dean
4816 Copper Tree Boulevard
On June 14, 2013, at 1:41 a.m., Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office was notified that multiple shots were fired outside the residence of 4816 Copper Canyon Blvd in Valrico. A short time later, Brandon Regional Hospital notified HCSO that a female victim had driven herself to the hospital for emergency treatment for at least one gunshot wound. The woman has since been relocated to Tampa General Hospital in serious condition.
Detectives have determined that Carmen Dean was shot at least once while in or near her vehicle parked in the driveway of her home.
Detectives have not yet established a clear motive, but are focusing on several theories that strongly indicate that this incident was not a random act.
Detectives have finished processing the crime scene (residence) and will continue to interview friends, associates and family members of the victim including the victim's husband Frederick Dean.
Frederick Dean is being cooperative in the investigation and is not being labeled at this time as a suspect. Carmen Dean continues receiving medical treatment at Tampa General Hospital and remains in serious but stable condition.
