Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputies will be honored for valor and exceptional work performance.
Quarterly Awards Ceremony to Honor Employees and Citizens:
The Sheriff’s Office Quarterly Awards Ceremony is set for March 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Falkenburg Road Jail Assembly Room. HCSO personnel will be honored for valor and exceptional work performance. We will also recognize recent retirees, employees for longevity of service and honor citizens who helped save lives and who helped to catch criminals. Civilian Employee of the Quarter and the Year will be recognized along with Deputy of the Quarter.
Here are a few highlights:
A six year old, first grader will be presented a citizens award in recognition of her efforts in raising over $300 for needy families during the Christmas holidays. With milk jug in hand, the first grader rallied with her friends, family and classmates to raise the money.
Among the Life saving awards one will be presented to a deputy that responded to the call of a suicidal male that had doused himself with lighter fluid and armed with a knife threatening to harm himself. The deputy was able to diffuse the situation and take the individual into custody.
Special recognition awards will be presented to several businesses that have been strong supporters of the law enforcement.
Defense Meritorious Service Award will be presented to a Senior Master Sergeant (United States Air Force, Retired). This award is being presented to Senior Master Sergeant for his exceptional meritorious service as Joint Security Superintendent, United States Special Operations Command Central MacDill Air Force Base.
Silver Cross Award will be presented to Deputy Lyonelle De Vaux, as a result of the incident that occurred on September 30, 2011 when she was shot three times while responding to a violent domestic.
