    Storage Unit Thieves Arrested

    Suspects wanted for breaking into 182 more storage units in August and September.

    On September 28, 2013, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office received a tip that provided the name of the suspect observed in the surveillance video breaking into storage units. Based on the tip, detectives were able to confirm that was, in fact, the suspect responsible for the burglaries.

    On October 2, 2013, an arrest warrant was obtained charging Charlie Rodriguez, Jr. for the burglary of the storage unit observed in the surveillance video. Rodriguez was arrested on October 2, 2013 without incident.

    The investigation into Rodriguez, led to the arrests of Jonathan Maldonado and Nancy Upper. They are being charged with crimes associated with other storage facility burglaries. Detectives are still investigating to determine if there were any other suspects involved.

    Previous Release 13-395:

    UPDATE: Suspects wanted for breaking into over 180 storage units in May and June of 2013, are at it again. On August 30, 2013, the same suspects broke into 47 units at the Public Storage located at 6286 W. Waters Ave. On September 21, 2013, those suspects also broke into 135 units at the Public Storage located at 16415 N. Dale Mabry Hwy.

    Suspects:

    -Hispanic male, thin build, 18-24 years of age, short dark hair and 2 large tattoos on right bicep and tricep. Last seen wearing bracelet on right wrist, black gloves, a white cloth covering his face, a Vans t-shirt, grey basketball shorts and black sneakers.

    Details:

    Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office detectives are asking for assistance in identifying two, Hispanic male suspects that are responsible for the most recent of 5 business burglaries in the Town 'n Country area. Since May 29, 2013, over 180 storage units have been burglarized in the District 3 area. The surveillance video is from the Uncle Bob's Storage located at 8354 Hillsborough Ave. The suspects seen in the video, pried open 72 storage units with a screwdriver, walked through the units and took very few items. The other cases have been similar.
