During the course of the investigation, deputies received information as to the location of the suspect vehicle in the Plantation Oaks Apartment complex. The caller had heard about the case via the news media coverage. Damage to Winsor's vehicle was consistent with the crash and the vehicle was impounded. Deputies continued working the case in an effort to establish who was operating the vehicle at the time of the crash.
As a result of assistance from the community and follow up investigations, information was developed and a warrant was issued for Robert Winsor for the above charges.
At approximately 9:00 p.m. today, October 7, 2013, Winsor turned himself in at the Orient Road Jail.
At 11:10 p.m. on October 5, 2013 the pedestrian, Shelley Grimes, was walking west across Providence Road within the north crosswalk at the intersection of Providence Ridge Road Blvd. She was struck in the median through lane by an unknown Chrysler 300 vehicle, occupied by at least three people. The vehicle did not stop, fleeing the scene south on Providence Road.
